Giving you enhanced speed and performance, Steelhead 7050 has up to 28 SSDs that minimise disk access times and latency, providing a higher throughput for read, write and search performance. Faster throughput shortens the time required to replicate data across the WAN to DR sites, allowing you to protect more data, more often and at the speed necessary to handle extreme workloads!

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity with Datastore Fault Tolerance


Leverage SSD datastore fault tolerance and comfortably meet your stringent Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)/Recovery Time Objectives (RTO). If one SSD fails, the Steelhead maintains high throughput & continues to optimise data using the remaining disks. As the drives simply cache network data and are not intended to be persistent storage, you simply lose the cached data that can be re-warmed. SSDs are hot-swappable through the front of the Steelhead so you can quickly be back up and running. The Steelheads can also be clustered side-by-side or in-line with the data stores synchronising for optimised redundancy.

Increase Data Deduplication & Maximise Existing Infrastructure


Already deduplicated your storage traffic? Riverbed Steelheads can further deduplicate that data over the network to achieve a data reduction rate of from 3:1 to 8:1, freeing up more bandwidth for large scale backups and business-critical applications, saving you in additional bandwidth costs and often reducing WAN traffic by as much as 60-95%.

Highest WAN Capacity for Maximum Scalability


Steelhead 7050 offers 3x the throughput of Steelhead 6050 and 2x the connections. With the highest WAN capacity in the industry, Steelhead 7050 optimises up to 100,000 concurrent optimised TCP connections and up to one Gigabit per second WAN-side throughput, and utilises up to four 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) network interface cards. The most scalable solution of its kind, clustering of individual Steelheads can easily and reliably meet the requirements of very large data centre environments with up to 12 Gbps total aggregate throughput and 1,000,000 concurrent connections and give you a performance never before achievable.

Riverbed Steelhead 7050 is a 3U unit that supports up to 4Gbps LAN bandwidth and 1 Gbps WAN bandwidth. The appliance includes a 100GB partition for the Riverbed Services Platform (RSP).

The 7050 ships in 2 models:

  • 7050L: Supports up to 75,000 concurrent TCP connections. Comes with 14 SSDs
  • 7050M: Supports up to 100,000 concurrent TCP connections. Comes with 28 SSDs
